T5 Series: Straight Bore Threaded
-
1"-14 NPS (NPS = National Pipe Straight/Parallel) threaded, 14 threads/sq. inch - requiring a T5 is rare!
-
T4 vs T5? Chances are you do NOT want to order the T5. Here's why: Pipes under 1" are always measured on the inside diameter ID. Pipes 1" and over 1" are always measured on the outside OD. Thus a one inch T5 is actually slightly smaller than a T4 (visually side by side you can never tell the difference between a T4 and T5, they look the same as you can see by the photo...)
- So in the world of pipe: A 3/4" pipe is actually larger than a 1" pipe in circumference due to how it switches from ID to OD at the 1" level.
-
The OD of the threads of T5 is .998"OD (Whereas, T4 nozzles are slightly larger at 1.003" OD) Note that 1" pipe is always measured based on the outside diameter (OD), and pipes less than 1" are measured on their inside diameter (ID). Thus a T5 nozzle is slightly smaller in size than a T4, but you cannot tell this visually as they are so close.
-
Most nozzles sold are T4 as it is rare to actually require a T5, but due to confusion between the two, both our T4 and T5 are threaded in such a way that both will screw into a 3/4" holder.
